Getting kids outside to play, explore, and enjoy nature seems like a no-brainer. What could be more fun? But unfortunately, a lot of kids today don't get to know the excitement and thrill of outdoor settings -- but they should, and we adults need to make sure they get the chance.

According to Cheryl Charles, Ph.D., President of the Children and Nature Network, "When children get to know a "place," from a backyard to a nearby woods to a place they might camp, and any number of other outdoor settings, that intimacy builds both love and knowledge. When people get that foundation in childhood, no matter where their life path takes them, they will tend to be smarter, healthier, and more successful."
