LA's Best

If you live in Los Angeles, you'll be proud to hear about the nationally recognized LA's BEST After School Enrichment program for at-risk children. Established in 1988 by former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, there are currently 153 LA's BEST sites, serving more than 25,000 students from 5 to 12 years of age.

The mission of LA's BEST is to provide a safe and supervised after school program that includes educational and recreational activities that are both enriching and engaging for the children it serves. From the close of every school day until 6 p.m., each LA's BEST site creates a safe haven for these kids, and provides fun, educational and entertaining activities at no cost to the parents.

Some of the activities offered at LA's BEST sites include, Arts & Crafts, Computer Club, Science & Math clubs, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts, Reading for Recreation, and more.

This is a positive, much needed program for children who would otherwise not be able to participate in such activities. LA's BEST has a proven track record, too: The children who attend are more likely to stay in school, feel safer, show significant improvement in grades, and demonstrate positive behavior changes.

Contact LA's BEST to see how you can help. In addition to direct donations, there are volunteer opportunities and sponsorship opportunities as well.
