The Silver Lining FoundationFounded in 1990, this foundation was created to support children who are battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The organization funds a special place -- the Benedict-Forstmann Silver Lining Ranch which is located in the pristine mountains of Aspen, Colorado. The Silver Lining Foundation is the brainchild of Andrea Jaeger, who during her years as a professional tennis star, often visited children in hospitals who were battling cancer. She was inspired by the fight these children waged for their lives every single day. Ms. Jaeger's vision was to give these children an opportunity to regain some of their missed childhood, and the chance to enjoy experiences outside of the sterile hospital environment. The Silver Lining Foundation has designed many special programs for children who are battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases, and provides them in a setting that is enriching, and therapeutically serene. Children are treated to an all-expense-paid adventure in the mountains, and trade their rigid medical schedule for activities such as white water rafting, horseback riding, skiing, and making friends.
