Hillsides

Hillsides is dedicated to creating safe places for children. Since its creation in 1913 as an Episcopal Orphanage, this wonderful organization has evolved into its present-day status as a private, non-profit treatment center for children who have been abused, neglected, and/or at risk.

Children residing at Hillsides have been referred to the organization by the Dependency division of the Los Angeles Superior Court. The Hillsides mission is to focus on several goals:

Hillsides is now working hard to address the very real problem of what happens to foster youth when they emancipate out of the state system. In Los Angeles alone, more than 2,000 foster care youth are released from the custody of the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services every year. Sadly, as many as 40% of these foster youth experience bouts of homelessness within 3 years of being released from the system.
