United Friends of the Children

This unique organization was formed in 1979, primarily as a volunteer nonprofit group to address the unmet needs of foster children living throughout Los Angeles County.

Over time, United Friends of the Children (UFC) created programs for emancipated foster youth, many of whom find themselves without skills or resources when they reach the age of eighteen, and are dismissed from their foster homes.

Currently, UFC provides a scope of assistance to these disenfranchised youth that includes educational and career guidance, college sponsorship, transitional housing, and pre-employment training and referral.

The Pathways Transitional Living Program, one of the programs developed by United Friends of the Children to help emancipated foster youth - is quickly becoming a national model to help these young people reclaim their lives.

Foster children are wards of the state. Each state is responsible for the care of hundreds, if not thousands of children each year. These children can use your help.
